At
AEC Systems 2004, Michael Poynton AIA of Kristine Fallon Associates
(KFA) discussed keys to success in web-based project management for
both large and small projects. He states that the critical question
to ask is, “are we reducing errors, improving quality, and obtaining
faster turnaround?
The whole purpose of web access is to save money, improve quality,
increase communication, create faster interaction and access, obtain
more accurate information, and decrease delays and rework.
KFA instituted a web-based system to manage a $1.2 billion/800 user
project for the Chicago Transit Authority, choosing to outsource the
hosting in order to decrease implementation time, capital outlay, and
staffing while obtaining increased flexibility and scalability.
Poynton suggests choosing a vendor who has a good track record and
who will be around next year....and the year after. Ask us about easy
web project hosting.
